timber frame home, addition, trusses or non-structural design element.

SHOP WORK
Frame Construction
We build our frames with the talents of our excellent craftsmen.
Hands-on approach
Our techniques involve a hands-on approach to the craft of timber framing using
traditional joinery.
Wood
We begin with re-claimed timbers and while we work primarily with Douglas Fir,
we do have access to other species such as Pine, Oak, Walnut, and Cherry.
Layout
We then carefully lay out the lines with a knife indicating where mortices and tenons are needed.

MORTICING
Cutting
After remeasuring the layout, the mortices are chisled to receive the adjoining member. The tenons are then cut with hand-held saws or a bandsaw.
Decorative Routing Details
Decorative routes are cut along edges of timbers according to design specifications.
Carving
We occasionally add hand-carved details to our homes. The sky is the limit with our craftsmen.
Sanding and Finishing
The timbers must be sanded, numbered and cataloged before the finish is applied. We recommend sealing or staining the timbers before they are exposed to the elements while the building is under construction. This protects the wood minimizing the effect of the Mother Nature on the frame.
Job Site Construction
We bring our talented staff to your site where the frame and panels are erected. We then install doors and windows completing a weather-tight enclosed shell.
